сокр. ДТdiphtheria toxin (сокр. DT)токсин (см. токсины), состоящий из двух полипептидных цепей (А и Б), который синтезируется дифтерийной палочкой Corinebacterium diphtheriae, вызывающей дифтерию у человека (воспаление зева, слизистых оболочек носа и гортани с образованием пленочных налетов). Д.т. катализирует реакцию АДФ-рибозилирования фактора элонгации эукариот (eEF-2), выключая тем самым его из участия в синтезе белка. Ген Д.т., кодирующий полипептид А, используется при таргетинге генов (см. таргетинг гена) в качестве фактора негативной селекции (клетки, содержащие ген Д.т.-А, погибают). Слитые белки, содержащие Д.т.-А, используются для избирательного уничтожения клеток в организме (напр., слитый белок интерлейкин-2-Д.т.-А избирательно уничтожает клетки Т-супрессоры, что приводит к подавлению развития раковых клеток).
